Angry Birds turn into Angry Brides!
If you are feeling the stress of wedding planning, I have just the solution for you. An online wedding site in India called ‘Shaadi.com’ has launched a new online game called ‘Angry Brides’ to mock the outlawed but still common practice of giving dowries in India.
According to the NCRB’s 2007 statistics, India has 1 dowry death every 4 hours which is creating a serious imbalance in the male:female ratio of the country. according to the 2011 government census, India has only 914 girls for every 1,000 boys.
Shaadi.com believes marriage is an institution of live not for a dowry. They run social media campaigns to create awareness to highlight the dowry issue.
In the game grooms have a heavy dowry price and prospective brides-to-be batter their prospective virtual husbands-to-be with vegetables, mops, shoes, vegtables and kitchen utensils to drive down the expected price for their hand-in-marriage which is clocked on an anti-dowry fund which you can publish on your facebook wall and tweet to your timeline! Sound like an appealing way to work off some of your wedding planning stress? Well click here to play the game!.
